After issuing the Portuguese birth certificate by sephardic route, issued by the Institute of Registers and Notaters (IRN), it is time to request the Citizen Card. This is the face-to-face identification document of the Portuguese citizen,by birth or by assignment, and replaces the identity card since 2010. In addition to the most modern and secure format, the citizen card has a chip that allows the storage of all personal data of the individual [1], enabling it to identify itself electronically and sign digital documents.

The technological innovations mentioned above allow that the citizen card includes, in a single document, the title of card, Social Security card and national health service.

To request the Citizen Card you must be with the updated marital status in Portugal.
