How to qualify for a higher education diploma in Portugal?

The recognition in Portugal of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign institutions, is regulated by the Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of 16 August entered into force in the year 2019. This decree revoked the previous two Decree Law 283/83, of 21 June it's the Decree-Law 341/2007, of 12 October.

The procedure for the recognition of academic degrees and diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions is regulated by Ordinance No. 33/2019.

Dentistry (Dentistry)

In Portugal, the exercise of Dentistry (Dentistry) is regulated by Statute of Dentists, approved by Law No. 110/91, of 29 August, with the necessary changes.

To exercise of dentistry in Portugal, foreign professionals need to go through 2 stages:

1. Validation / equivalence of the undergraduate diploma at a Portuguese university;
2. Registration with the Portuguese Dental Association.

The first stage is the validation / equivalence of the diploma of the dentist course, which is divided into 3 phases:

1. Presentation of documentation;
2. Theoretical test;
3. Dissertation defense.

Prerequisites:

Before proceeding with the application, it should be noted whether the course completed in Brazil meets the following requirements:

Hours: 300 to 360 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).
Minimum duration: 10 semesters.
