Portuguese Prime Minister highlights investment opportunities for Brazilian companies

Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro said at a recent event in São Paulo that his country is open to receiving investments from Brazilian companies, with an emphasis on infrastructure. Among the main projects are the construction of the new Lisbon airport, the creation of a high-speed train, improvements to port infrastructure and the construction of housing. During his speech, Montenegro reinforced that the key word for Portugal in 2024 is investment, highlighting the favorable environment for business in the country.
Investment opportunities in strategic sectors
Montenegro explained that, in addition to political and financial stability, Portugal offers clear contracts, reduced bureaucracy and reciprocity in customs tariffs, which are essential elements to attract investors. The infrastructure projects underway, such as the new Lisbon airport and improvements to port and rail infrastructure, are areas of great interest to Brazilian investors. The country is already home to 500,000 Brazilians, which makes Brazil the largest foreign community in Portugal, further opening the doors to bilateral trade and joint economic growth.
Boost in international trade
The Prime Minister also highlighted the EU-Mercosur Agreement, saying that it will facilitate trade between the two regions by reducing the complexity of trade rules. This agreement is a positive point for Brazilian companies wishing to expand their operations in Europe, with Portugal being an excellent starting point due to its stable business environment and its facilities for foreign entrepreneurs.
