Growth of American and Canadian tourism in the Algarve

The North American tourism market has shown a notable increase in interest in Portugal, with the Algarve standing out. According to data from Turismo do Algarve, between 2017 and 2023, the number of tourists from the USA grew by around 200% in the region, now the third most popular destination for this audience, with 10% of stays.
For the Canadian market, the Algarve has established itself as the second most sought-after destination in Portugal, with an impressive share of 25% of stays.

At the VisitPortugal Travel Trade Marketplace USA & CAN event, Portuguese and North American tourism professionals held more than 4,000 individual meetings, promoting the exchange of experiences and the expansion of offers to attract more and more travelers.
