President of Portugal approves changes to the Nationality Law

Last Saturday (24/02), the President of Portugal approved changes to the Nationality Law made by the country's parliament. However, the right to Portuguese nationality continues to be valid for anyone who can prove they have Sephardic ancestry.
The transitional regime comes into force only on the first day of the month following the date of publication in the Official Gazette of Portugal, which still no confirmed date to happen. It will still be necessary to prove ties with the Portuguese community, but if maintain the requirements that came into force since September 1, 2022. Living in Portugal is a new way of proving a relationship in force during the transitional regime, but it is not a mandatory requirement.
Processes registered at the Registry until August 31, 2022 are not subject to any changes and the only requirement continues to be genealogical proof. In the case of processes registered from September 1, 2022, the requirements are the same as those currently required: genealogical proof and proof of ties with the Portuguese community.
This requirement will only come into force after the regulation of changes to the Nationality Law, with no expected date yet. Only after the election of the new government will the new regulations be known and will still need to go through a series of steps to be valid, that is, the transitional regime will remain in force for some time.
