Porto consolidates its status as the best investment destination in Europe

Porto, the capital of northern Portugal, has once again been named the best European city of the future in terms of its strategy to attract foreign direct investment (FDI). The city won the award in the category of “FDI strategy – large cities”, and is recognised for its ability to implement effective policies that promote growth and innovation. This is the fourth consecutive year that Porto has been awarded this position, consolidating its position as one of the most promising centres for investment in Europe.
An internationally recognized successful strategy
According to fDi Intelligence, part of the Financial Times group, Porto's success is a reflection of a successful strategic plan to attract investment, with emphasis on initiatives such as InvestPorto, which has already generated more than 2 billion euros in investment and created around 28,000 local jobs. The city has stood out especially in the areas of science, technology and innovation, in addition to being an emerging center for digital businesses. The presence of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Porto, with a focus on technology, robotics and entrepreneurship in health, also helps to consolidate the city as an innovation hub.
Braga in second place: standing out among small cities
In addition to Porto, the city of Braga also stood out, ranking second in the category of cities with populations between 100,000 and 350,000 inhabitants. InvestBraga's strategy has been fundamental in attracting multinationals and fostering the development of sectors such as technology and innovation, creating new jobs and strengthening the city's international competitiveness.
