Considered the most digital country in the world, Estonia seeks IT talent
The most digital country in the world, according to the British Wired portal, is offering thousands of job opportunities and looking for Brazilian talent in the area of information technology. Located in northern Europe and bordered by the Baltic Sea, Estonia has approximately more than seven thousand open work places in startups due to the strong technological expansion that it has been experiencing since the second independence, according to the Estonia Hub, a company that promotes relationships technological and commercial developments between Brazil and Estonia. Job offers are also published by the Estonian government and suman around 540 opportunities on the Work Estonia website.
Estonia, which integrates the Baltic Republics alongside Latvia and Lithuania, promoted an innovative modernization process aimed at public and private management that transformed it into a technological example for the planet. According to information from the Estonian government, available on the official website e-Estonia, the small country has 1.3 million inhabitants, offers 99% of public services on online platforms, it is the first country in the world to carry out an online vote and is the headquarters of siete unicornios – startups with a global reach and millionaire business volume -, such as Bolt, Skype, Wise, the former Transferwise, Pipedrive and Grabcad, as well as more than 1,100 startups.
According to the co-founder of the Estonia Hub and specialist in strategic consulting for the University of Harvard, Raphael Fassoni, Estonian companies have great interest in professionals in Brazil, mainly in the area of information technology, due to creativity, good training and high communicative power of these professionals. Fassoni, who has lived in Estonia for 3 years, reports that the Brazilian community in the country is around 400 people, since most of them work with technology.
After studying the characteristics of the European country and mapping more than 250 startups, the specialist in Private International Law and the legal partner of the Martins Castro Consulting, Thiago Huver, states that the rapid expansion of the Estonian market has generated a high demand for specialized manpower in the areas of software engineering for developers, cybersecurity, IOT and blockchain, marketing and also media of social communication. Second, as Estonia constantly promotes new startups and the attraction of companies, due to its simplified tax and fiscal systems, there are cases where there is a shortage of professionals. Therefore, it guarantees that whoever has a good curriculum has space in Estonian companies.
A resident of Europe for five years, Huver offers advice on what to do to internationalize the career and business, he says that another positive aspect of Estonia is the promotion of freedom for professionals or entrepreneurs who can act in the country from anywhere in the world. “The Estonian mentality follows the evolutionary process of modern societies and reinforces one of the main characteristics of this generation that is the possibility of moving to any place. It is also important to bet on the power of mobility to connect people and companies in all countries. There are no limits or borders for whoever has the competence and disposition to go more there”, he analyzes.
In spite of the digitalization of the processes, he comments, that it is essential to know the legislation, the rules and the necessary conducts to act and live in another country. “Like every European country, Estonia has rules for foreigners to settle in its territory. Therefore, there is a methodology to be successful in this journey and, therefore, it is essential to be informed about the places of work, the connection with companies, documentation and services needed for migration and relocation in the new country”, said Huver to highlight that in the territory there are three active languages, Estonian as the official language, Russian and English.
